Following our workshop, in addition to implementing some of the necessary changes to the ontology, such as software suites, we’ve also been busy adding software. The original SWO has been incorporated (although we still need to do some tidying), and we’re slowly working through the spreadsheet that was created during the workshop, adding those pieces of software. This is a tedious job, particularly given the modular nature of the ontology, which keeps things tidy but makes it slow to add software. I have found it simpler to add each column at a time rather than row at a time, i.e., add the licences, then the organisations, etc. in groups, then add the software afterwards, rather than adding a new licence, new organisation, etc. for each piece of software. Boring it may be, but it is a useful exercise, highlighting areas that are difficult to capture or express.
